The context:

Revelation chapters 1-3 are addressed to the Church.

Revelation chapters 1-3 specifically address of each of “the seven churches that are in Asia.”

Revelation chapters 1-3 have the final general instructions for the Church in the Cannon of Scripture.

      See Revelation 1:1-20, 2:7, 2:10b-11, 2:17a, 2:23, 2:29, 3:6, 3:12-13, 3:19-22.

Revelation chapters 4-22 concerns “what must take place after these things.”  That is, after the time of

the Churches in Revelation chapters 1-3.

Revelation 1:7, “even those who pierced Him”

Revelation 2:2b, “those who call themselves apostles and they are not.”

Revelation 2:10, devil testing Believers.

Revelation 2:13a, “where Satan’s throne is”

Revelation 2;13b, “where Satan dwells”

Revelation 2:24b, “deep things of Satan.”

Interpretations and Observations:

1. The Bible verses and contexts above, describe Satan’s plan to counter the Church. Since the 70 AD destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, the synagogue has been the active force in the world attacking the Church.  Martin Luther wrote a book titled: “On the Jews and Their Lies” (1543). The Jews have been expelled from 109 countries for being a “turbulent people.”

2. The plan began with killing Jesus. (Jews and Romans, Revelation 1:7)

3. This plan includes false apostles to deceive the Church. (Revelation 2:2) (Note: 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.  14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.  15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their deeds.)

4. Revelation 2:9 and 3:9 note Satan’s false synagogue and false Jews as tools to attack the Church. The Jewish Talmud says that Jesus is eternally boiling in excrement and Christians are idolaters.

5. Revelation 2:9 and 3:9 are the final references to the Jewish people in the letters to the Christian Church.  The Synagogue of Satan has been operating from 70 AD to present.

6. Revelation 2:9 and 3:9 note the Synagogue of Satan, not the Jerusalem Temple of Satan.  The Jerusalem Tribulation Temple of Satan is found in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-5.  Also, Daniel 9:27 and Matthew 24:15 and Revelation 11:1-2.

7. Revelation 3:10b notes that the synagogue of Satan will undergo testing along with the whole world.

8. The Era of the Synagogue of Satan will continue into the Great Tribulation:

Luke 21:12-24 12 "But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for My name's sake.  13 "It will lead to 1an opportunity for your testimony.  14 "So make up your minds not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves; 15 for I will give you utterance and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute.  16 "But you will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death, 17 and you will be hated by all on account of My name.  18 "Yet anot a hair of your head will perish.  19 "By your endurance you will gain your lives.  20 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her desolation is at hand.  21 "Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are in the midst of the city depart, and let not those who are in the country enter the city; 22 because these are days of vengeance, in order that all things which are written may be fulfilled.  23 "Woe to those who are with child and to those who nurse babes in those days; for there will be great distress upon the land, and wrath to this people, 24 and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
